Announcements

Mon July 24 – 7p – 8:30p – Food Drive Prep: Flyer & Plastic Bag Stapling + Free Desserts!
Each August, Troop 248 organizes a critically needed food drive for Neighbors, Inc.  Why is it critical?  Lots of families in need have children at home during the summer and regular food donations are substantially lower when compared to the winter holidays.  Last year, Troop 248 collected 5000 lbs of food and we’re aiming for 6000 lbs minimum this year.
At this meeting, we need to prepare 3000 plastic food collection bags to be distributed to homes on Mon, July 31 & picked up full of food on Mon, Aug 7.  Preparation includes stapling a donation & fundraising flyer to each bag.
What to bring:
– You, your scout and any other helpful members of your family who want to help us quickly prep 3000 bags in less than 90 minutes.  We need lots of help!
– Staplers and staples
What can you expect in return for contribution of just 90 minutes of your time?
– Free Desserts! – Several scouts and parents have volunteered to prepare delicious desserts for all those in attendance.
Mon July 31 – 6p Food Drive Bag Distribution + Free Hot Dog Dinner
One of our most important service projects of the year! – Part I
Hot Dog, Chips and Drink dinner starts at 6p in the St. Stephens parking lot.  After dinner, teams of adults and scouts will be assigned to neighborhoods to distribute food collection bags and flyers.  Maps will be provided.
Scouts should wear:
– their Class A uniform shirt

Mon Aug 7 – 6:30p – Food Drive Bag Pickup
One of our most important service projects of the year! – Part II
Pick up your maps and head out to pick up bags of food & return them to the church.
Several adults/scouts will be asked to help transfer the thousands of pounds of food to Neighbors Inc after the pick up is completed.
